About the Program

You'll enroll in two three-credit courses for a total of six credits.  Through your coursework, you have the chance to learn about some unique aspects of Australian society, history, and life in subjects such as sports, politics, and business.

  • Apartment

Apartment

Live in a two-bedroom apartment in a multi-unit apartment building. You will share your two-bedroom apartment with 3 IES Abroad roommates, sharing one of the two bedrooms with one of those roommates. Meals are not included/provided but there is a kitchen in the apartment in which to prepare meals. 

An IES Abroad Sydney Residential Assistant will be available for your pastoral and community needs. The IES Abroad RA is an experienced Sydney resident, and can help you with ideas on what to do, eat, and buy, in order to make the most of your time in Sydney.

Courses

You enroll in the following two courses and earn a total of 6 credits. 

  • AN/SO 320 - Sports & Society in Australia 

    This course examines the relationship between sport and society in Australia, delving into such topics as the impact of social institutions on sports, the economy and business of sport clubs, the media's involvements with sports, and the multicultural nature of sports in Australia.

  • IR/IB 393 Leading Across Cultures: Principles and Practice 

    This course provides classroom-based and experiential learning in leadership studies and prepares students to assume leadership roles in global organizations. Using leadership in the Asia-Pacific region as its context, this course explores such topics as intercultural communication, workplace diversity, and business ethics.

About the IES Abroad Center

The Center staff are highly trained local professionals provide on-the-ground support throughout your time abroad.  

The IES Abroad Sydney staff are located in Chatswood, a business and residential neighborhood in the Lower North Shore of Sydney. IES Abroad Sydney staff are readily available to connect with you on your academic, housing, and life experiences.

Our Comprehensive Orientation & Re-Entry Experience (CORE™) begins at home with our virtual orientation to meet the IES Abroad Center staff, fellow students, and the city.
Arrive in Sydney
Orientation continues when you arrive onsite with activities focusing on adjusting to Sydney. Detailed information about other important topics is also covered.
Get to Know the City
Beyond orientation sessions, you will have opportunities to explore and discover Sydney before classes start to help you feel at home in your new environment.
On-Site Staff Support
Our experienced, trained, and dedicated local staff are on-site throughout your entire program to ensure you have the support you need during your abroad adventure.
