You won’t need the luck of the Irish to have an unforgettable study abroad experience in Dublin. By directly enrolling in a local university, you have the opportunity to become a part of Dublin’s large student community (more than half of the city is under 25 years old).
My first time weekend traveling! Continue reading to hear some money saving tips, as well as going to places that make that pretty difficult.
You live in a private student residence with up to seven other IES Abroad students each having your own bedroom and bathroom within the apartment. No meals are provided, but you'll share a fully equipped kitchen, plus a living area. Mixed-gender and single-gender apartments are available.
The private student residence is completely furnished and has WiFi along with other amenities, including on-site laundry facilities and 24-hour reception and security. The residence hall is within walking distance or a short bus ride to the IES Abroad Center. Residents are invited to attend a range of social events such as mindfulness workshops, movie nights, volunteer days, and more.
Our mission is simple: to provide you with the best study abroad program possible—which includes the highest quality academic and cultural experiences. That is why we partnered with Trinity College Dublin (TCD).
You must meet the requisite minimum number of credits as stipulated for TCD.
You also have to meet TCD’s specific requirements, including the requisite minimum GPA (3.3 on a 4.0 scale). You must be a second semester sophomore, junior or senior standing when program begins. You should select courses in your major or minor and be prepared to provide documentation of relevant prior coursework.
As a 400-year-old university, Trinity College Dublin (TCD) has a long history of high academic quality and scholarship. It is Ireland’s oldest and one of its finest higher education institutions. Enrolling students from 70 countries from across six continents, TCD’s student population totals more than 16,000 students. TCD also houses the seventh-century Book of Kells, a masterful example of an illuminated manuscript on archive in the University’s historic library.
Trinity College Dublin is located in the heart of Dublin near St. Stephen’s Green. The campus’ buildings and open space span 40 acres.
TCD courses are generally worth 2.5-5 IES Abroad credits each, and you will take 15 credits.
TCD has three faculties that you may enroll in if you are qualified: Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science*, and Faculty of Health Sciences*.
Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
Faculty of Engineering, Mathematics and Science*
Faculty of Health Sciences*
Trinity advises that students not take courses in both the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering, Mathematics and Science due to scheduling difficulties.
The Trinity application requires you to apply to the faculties you want to take courses in while at Trinity. Please choose carefully which faculties you would like to apply to as you will only be allowed to enroll in courses in the faculties you are accepted to. Students are only allowed to take Visiting Student Modules.
If prompted to contact Trinity for module information, please contact your IES Abroad Advisor directly.
Trinity Electives
You will be able to take one Trinity Elective per semester, but these courses have limited availability. You will be able to choose a course during your on-site registration process, so you do not need to list anything on your Trinity College Dublin application. Please see the Trinity Electives webpage for further details on the courses offered.
Please note that course offerings vary from semester to semester. Exact course availability is determined shortly before the start of each semester. For this reason, it will not be possible for you to officially register until your arrival in Dublin. However you will need to refer to current course offerings in order to preregister as part of your application.
*Additional tuition fee applies. See the Program Fees Sheet for more information.
